One thing I love about being a family photographer is return customers. Not because of the money but because I get to share with them the best times, and give them artistic time capsules (aka photographs) of each milestone. Selah’s parents, Jillian and Jonathan, were my first professional wedding clients so I was honored that they came back to me not only for maternity portraits but also for newborns.
First off I have to tell you I am a fan of interesting, creative, and beautiful names – and Selah is definitely one of them. It is a Hebrew word found in the book of Psalms many times and means rest or listen. It is a musical term which I’m sure dad was excited about as he teaches music and enjoys music production.
Selah was awake through our whole shoot and very aware of what was going on. I’ve learned that only in the magical world of Pinterest do beautiful babies sleep through entire photoshoots. But I’m glad her big beautiful eyes were wide open! Jillian found some adorable items on Etsy and combined with some antiques from my moms house we had ourselves a wonderful variety for our shoot.
